Assassin of Slovakian PM Fico Identified: Former Security Employee and Poet Juraj Cintula

The shooter who made an attempt on Fico’s life, at the moment of his arrest Slovak media reported that the attacker was a former employee of a private security company and author of a poetry collection Juraj Cintula.

This is reported by local TV channel Markiza. In 2016, Cintula himself survived an assassination attempt when he was attacked in a shopping center in the town of Levice by a young man who was in an inebriated state.

Cintula’s son stated that his father had a gun permit and denied information that had emerged that Cintula was a patient of a psychiatric hospital.

Cintula is now in custody and his case is being handled by the National Criminal Agency of Slovakia.
