Setback to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, interim bail plea rejected, court orders medical test

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has rejected Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s plea on health grounds. It is a major setback from the Rouse Avenue Court in the Delhi liquor policy and money laundering case related to it.

Now Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyers have indicated that the special court’s order will soon be challenged before the Delhi High Court. A petition will be filed after studying the decision of the special court.

It is worth noting that Kejriwal got interim bail on 10 May after 55 days. After this bail, he came out of Tihar Jail for campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

Before his arrest on 21 March 2024, he was in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for 10 days. After this, on 1  April 2024, the ED CBI court sent him to Tihar Jail in judicial custody. He spent 39 days in Tihar Jail.

After the completion of bail, he surrendered on 2 June at 5.00 pm. The said petition was for extension of this interim petition. Now he will remain in Tihar jail till 19 June 2024.
