Bangalore, June 11 – Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been detained by Bangalore police in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy. The actor, known for his roles in popular South Indian films, was arrested in Mysuru and is currently being transported to Bangalore for further investigation.
Allegations and Investigation
Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered after making derogatory social media posts about Pavitra Gowda, a close friend of Darshan Thoogudeepa. The initial police investigation suggested a link between these posts and the murder. Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near Sumannahalli Bridge in Bengaluru, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to an Asianet report, ten people have been arrested in connection with the case. Police officials are expected to provide more details in an upcoming press conference.
Incident Details
Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga, was reportedly lured to a farmhouse near Mysuru owned by Darshan. It is alleged that Renukaswamy was tortured for hours before being murdered, and his body was later dumped in a drain in Bengaluru’s Kamakshipalya region. The body was recovered by police on June 9.

Arrest and Security Measures
The 47-year-old actor was detained from a hotel in Mysuru. Following his arrest, additional police personnel have been deployed near his Bengaluru residence to maintain order.
Confessions and Motive
Three suspects arrested during the initial stages of the investigation have confessed to killing Renukaswamy due to financial disputes, as reported by the Indian Express.

Darshan Thoogudeepa, born on February 16, 1977, is a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry. He gained fame for his performances in movies such as Anatharu and Krantiveera Sangolly Rayanna. Besides acting, Darshan is also a producer and distributor. He established Thoogudeepa Productions in 2006, with its first film being Jothe Jotheyalu, where he made a special appearance. Darshan has received several accolades, including the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor for his role in Krantiveera Sangolly Rayanna.
