Mumbai: In a sensational murder case, a 50-year-old man with a criminal record was brutally killed inside a spa in Worli in the early hours of Wednesday. According to Worli Police, Gurusiddhappa Waghmare, also known as Chulbul Pandey, was attacked and chopped to pieces by unidentified assailants.
Incident Details
Waghmare had gone to Soft Touch Spa near Worli Naka with his girlfriend after drinking at Aparna Bar & Restaurant near Sion railway station. The bar is popular among seafood lovers. The duo was celebrating Waghmare’s birthday, which had occurred a few days earlier.
The spa, located on the ground floor of Manjrekar Building, L.R. Papan Marg, Worli Naka, had been shut for the past six months. However, Waghmare’s female companion, who reportedly had a close relationship with the spa owner, had access to it. While the couple was inside, three unidentified men armed with choppers and a knife broke in and repeatedly attacked Waghmare, who was lying on a sofa. Waghmare had at least five criminal FIRs filed against him at Vile Parle police station.
Police Action
Under the guidance of Senior PI Ravindra Katkar, six teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspects. The incident came to light when the Worli police station received a call in the afternoon about a body found inside Soft Touch Spa on July 24. The woman, who is a prime witness, has been detained along with a man. The police have not disclosed their names.
“We rushed to the spot and found the body. We took it to the nearest hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. He had injuries all over his body. Based on this, we have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused. The body has been sent for postmortem analysis,” said a police spokesperson.
CCTV Footage to Be Scrutinized
The Worli police will scrutinize CCTV footage to identify the attackers. “It appears that someone was keeping a watch on the couple, and when they entered the spa, the killers were tipped off. It seems to be a well-planned operation,” an official said.
The police have registered an FIR against unknown individuals under Section 103 (Punishment for murder) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS). Those convicted under these sections can be punished with death or life imprisonment.
This tragic incident underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in ensuring public safety and the necessity of vigilance in monitoring suspicious activities. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
