The resignation of Delhi unit chief of Congress Arvinder Singh Lovely in protest against the alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has openly exposed the internal discord of the party. Now the news quoting DPCC sources is that after Lovely’s resignation from the post of President, former Delhi MLAs Devendra Yadav and Rajesh Lilothia are possible contenders for the post of State Congress chief. At the same time, some people believe that Abhishek Dutt’s name can also be considered for this post.

In fact, Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely had submitted his resignation from the post of DPCC President to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday (April 28). Referring to the reason in his letter, he said that the Delhi Congress unit was against the alliance, but the party high command decided to forge the alliance. In her resignation letter, Lovely also said that she felt helpless in such a situation. All unanimous decisions taken by senior leaders of Delhi unit were unilaterally vetoed by AICC Delhi in-charge Deepak Babaria.

Former DPCC chief Anil Chaudhary on Monday urged Mallikarjun Kharge to expel Lovely from the party. He wrote on X post that what Lovely did is very unfortunate. He alleged that just as Congress candidate Nilesh Khumani in Surat gave him a walkover in collaboration with BJP, Lovely has also done the same in collaboration with BJP. I appeal to our leader Kharge ji and Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal ji to expel Arvinder Singh Lovely from the party with immediate effect.

Sanjay Singh praised

AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Monday praised Lovely for the party’s Lok Sabha election alliance with the Congress. Singh said at a press conference here that the credit for his party’s Lok Sabha election alliance with the Congress in the national capital also goes to Lovely. I say this with responsibility that Lovely played an important role in our alliance with Congress. When the Rajya Sabha MP was asked to comment on the resignation of the Congress leader from the party post, he said that I am not aware of the reasons for his contrary views.

Responding to AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s comment, Arvinder Singh Lovely told PTI, ‘Sanjay Singh is a good person, but I think he is still in shock. Even after coming out of jail, he has not become normal. When India Bloc was formed in April, I was not the president of Delhi Congress. He said that when the second meeting of the block was held in Bengaluru, I was not even the president. Lovely said that even during the third meeting in Mumbai, he was not the president. He said that when he became the president, unfortunately Singh was sent to jail. How did Sanjay know that I was the architect of the alliance? He said it means there was someone in the jail who would bring him out.
