Favourable conditions for fast advancement of monsoon
However, expect some respite from the hot weather as the IMD forecast seemed positive about favourable conditions for the advancement of monsoon over Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The monsoon is likely to advance into several regions, including parts of the south Arabian Sea, including sections of the Lakshadweep. It is also expected to spread into the southwest and central Bay of Bengal, the northeast Bay of Bengal, and parts of the north eastern states.
Adding to this, a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam is set to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim over the next week, the IMD has predicted. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also anticipated in these areas over the next five days.
The conditions are favourable for further advance of South west Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West central and North west Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days.
Strong south westerly /southerly winds are prevailing from Bay of Bengal to north eastern States in lower tropospheric levels. Under their influence fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds very likely will occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 7 days.
A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Arabian sea adjoining south Kerala coast in middle tropospheric levels and another over west central Bay of Bengal adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off south Coastal Andhra Pradesh adjoining north Tamil Nadu in lower tropospheric levels. Strong westerly winds are prevailing along Kerala Coast.
Yesterday, heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded at isolated places over Kerala; heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh. Significant amount of rainfall was also observed in other parts of Kerala and Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Tamil Nadu.
According to IMD forecast, isolated very light to light rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds very likely over Punjab and Haryana during 3rd-7th June ; Uttar Pradesh during 3rd-5th and Rajasthan on 3rd June.
Isolated to scattered light rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds very likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 5 days.
