Delhi Armwrestling Team Dominates National Championship with 44 Medals and Two Champion of Champions Trophies

The Delhi Armwrestling Team has achieved remarkable success at the 2024 National Armwrestling Championship, winning a total of 44 medals.

The team brought home 15 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze medals, showcasing their dominance in the sport.

Yuvraj Verma and Atiksh Qazi emerged as standout athletes, each winning the prestigious Champion of Champions trophy in their respective categories.

The championship, organized by the Maharashtra Armwrestling Association under the aegis of the People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI), took place from June 6-10, 2024. It featured participation from over 2000 athletes and officials from 28 states, highlighting the event’s scale and competitive nature. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Preeti Jhangiani, President of PAFI, and Mr. Dzheenbek Mukambetov, President of the Asian Armwrestling Federation, with Mr. Parvin Dabas, director of the Pro Panja League, as the special guest.

In the women’s category, Bimla Rawat excelled, winning gold in both left and right-hand categories in the Master 60 kg division. Other notable female winners include Manorama, Neetu Verma, Karishma Kapoor, and Shruti Bawa, who secured multiple medals in various weight categories.

The men’s team saw stellar performances from athletes like Ayush, Atiksh Qazi, Kunal Singh, Pawan, and Utkarsh Parmar. Particularly noteworthy were the achievements of Yuvraj Verma, who won gold in both left and right-hand categories in the Youth 90+ kg division, and Atiksh Qazi, who secured gold and silver in the Sub Junior 70 kg division.
