In a recent online confrontation, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has responded to allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal. This follows Maliwal’s claims that she was receiving rape and death threats after Rathee uploaded a video regarding an alleged assault on her by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar.

Rathee’s cryptic post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) accused perpetrators of pretending to be victims, implicitly referring to Maliwal without naming her directly. “Fake allegations against me, daily death threats, dehumanising insults, coordinated campaigns to defame me… I am used to it by now. The irony is that perpetrators are pretending to be victims. Everyone knows who is behind all this. They want to silence me,” Rathee tweeted. He further asserted his resilience, stating, “If you silence 1 Dhruv Rathee, 1000 new ones will rise up.”

“Fake allegations against me, daily death threats, dehumanising insults, coordinated campaigns to defame me… I am used to it by now. The irony is that perpetrators are pretending to be victims. Everyone knows who is behind all this. They want to silence me,” the YouTuber and vlogger tweeted.

Swati Maliwal had earlier alleged that Rathee’s video triggered a barrage of threats and abuses against her. She accused the YouTuber of posting a one-sided video about the incident and ignoring her attempts to present her side of the story. “It is shameful that people like him, who claim to be independent journalists, could act like other AAP spokespersons and victim-shame me to the extent that I am now facing extreme abuses and threats,” Maliwal posted on X.

The controversy intensified on Monday during the bail hearing of Bibhav Kumar, where Maliwal reiterated her claims about the video. The court ultimately denied bail to Kumar, affirming that Maliwal’s allegations could not be dismissed lightly.

This public spat highlights the growing tension between independent digital creators and political figures, raising questions about the responsibilities of online influencers and the impact of their content on public discourse and safety.
