Details of the Doda Encounter

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu zone, confirmed that terrorists opened fire at a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in the Chattargala area. The confrontation escalated into a full-blown encounter, which is currently ongoing in the higher reaches of the region.

Kathua and Reasi Attacks

In a related development, a terrorist was eliminated in an encounter in Kathua last night. Police officials reported that two terrorists were involved in the Kathua attack, with one of them killed. Security forces are now deploying drones to locate the second terrorist in the Hiranagar area of Kathua.

“There are rumors that many people are injured and three are dead. But only one civilian was injured; other than this, all information regarding hostages being held and death are rumors,” stated ADGP Jain.

Fresh Infiltration and Suspicions of Hostile Activity

ADGP Jain referred to the Kathua attack as a “fresh infiltration” and implicitly pointed to Pakistan’s involvement. “It is our hostile neighbor who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country. This (Hiranagar terror attack) appears to be a fresh infiltration,” he said.

Reasi Attack on Pilgrims

Two days prior, terrorists attacked a bus en route to the Shiv Khori cave temple in Reasi. The bus driver refused to deboard the passengers, prompting the terrorists to open fire. The driver lost control, and the bus fell into a gorge, resulting in nine deaths and 33 injuries. Officials indicated that the attack was orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.

Security Measures and Ongoing Operations

Jammu has been on high alert due to the recent surge in terrorist activities, with several attacks occurring in previously peaceful areas. Security forces are intensifying their operations, using advanced surveillance technologies, including drones, to locate and neutralize the remaining terrorists.
