All FASTag users must adhere to the new rules by October 30, 2024, to avoid inconveniences at toll plazas. Non-compliance may result in disruptions and delays.

Key New Regulations

  1. KYC Updates and Replacing FASTags:
    • Users must complete their KYC for all FASTags issued between three to five years ago by October 31, 2024. The NPCI emphasizes the importance of keeping KYC details updated to prevent service disruptions.
    • FASTags older than five years must be replaced.
  2. Linking Vehicle Information:
    • Users must link their vehicle’s registration number, chassis number, and the owner’s mobile number to their FASTag account.
    • For newly purchased vehicles, the registration number must be updated on the FASTag within 90 days of purchase.
  3. Photo Upload:
    • Users are required to upload images of their vehicle, including the front and side views, and a clear image of the FASTag affixed to the vehicle.
  4. Linking Mobile Number:
    • Every FASTag must be linked to the owner’s mobile number to facilitate better communication between FASTag providers and users.
  5. Database Verification:
    • FASTag service providers must conduct comprehensive verification of their databases to ensure that the details linked to each FASTag align with the information in the VAHAN database, India’s national vehicle registry. This process is essential for maintaining data accuracy and currency.

The new guidelines, effective from August 1, mark the beginning of an urgent compliance period for companies offering FASTag services. The NPCI’s new regulations are intended to enhance the accuracy of data, streamline toll transactions, and improve overall efficiency on India’s roadways.

FASTag users are encouraged to promptly update their KYC information, replace outdated FASTags, and ensure all necessary vehicle details are linked to their accounts. These measures will help prevent any disruptions and facilitate smoother travel experiences.

As the deadline approaches, it is crucial for all FASTag holders to comply with these new regulations to avoid inconveniences and ensure seamless toll collection. The NPCI’s initiatives aim to create a more efficient and user-friendly toll system for all motorists.
